Twas the night before preschool

Twas the eve before Preschool
And all through our house
The encouraging and scurrying
Of mom and her spouse.

Its the first day of pre-K
I guess I should be sappy
Maybe I'll drown my tears
In a pumpkin spice latte.

The clothes are laid out
on the dresser with care
We've tried on new rainboots
And fresh underwear.

You just won't believe it
Sweet as he looks
He's been crazy and cranky
And frankly I'm shook.

For Shelley and Kelly
and Mrs. Anne too
Our prayers for Mrs. Jill,
 teachers, and aides too.

So here's to the first day
And every day hence
For good sleep and recess
And boundless patience.
